About Opportunity

The volunteer would develop a range of skills through an extensive basic training programme leading to Certificates in Advice Work. They would use an extensive information system to access information for clients, make up case records, and deal with outside agencies when necessary on behalf of clients. Volunteers would derive great satisfaction from helping clients, some of whom have multiple problems. Clients benefit from skilled help, and know that the service is free, independent, confidential and impartial. Volunteer advisers would learn to work as part of a team, with an opportunity to go on to do more specialised advice work eg money advice.
