About Opportunity

The Arches is a Community Resource for people who are experiencing mental health problems. A variety of opportunities are available - kitchen/cooking skills, a range of activities & the chance to meet lots of different people. Assisting the staff with activities both within the centre and using the community resources, for those from the Banff and surrounding areas.

About Arches Drop In Centre

The Arches provides support and advice to people who are experiencing Mental Health problems and their Carers. The aim of the Centre is to build up confidence and self-esteem and to work towards the continued well-being of those who use it.

Good interpersonal/communication skills.

Travel Details

To and from The Arches Day Resource Centre, Banff. Volunteers will get paid out-of-pocket travel expenses.

Restrictions

No age restrictions.

Requirements

Application Form, Induction/Training, Informal Chat, Police Check, References, Trial Period

Training and Induction Details

4 sessions of 5 hrs, held once a week, which includes preparation for the role of befriender. Also speakers from associated mental health areas e.g CPN's, social workers and sufferers of of certain mental illnesses.
