About Opportunity

Each opportuntiy is specific to the school placement and is negotiated by the volunteer and the Head Teacher, according to the preference of the volunteer and the needs of the pupils and staff. The following are examples of the current activities of project volunteers:- a) Giving guidance in the use of computers b) Helping pupils with practical mathematical activities c) Reading stories to groups of chidren d) Listening to pupils read e) Educational excursions f) Encouraging story and poem reading

About CSV/RSVP Midlothian Schools Project

To encourage retired volunteers (over 50 years) to assist in primary schools.

Skills & Experience

Ability to communicate with and enjoy the company of children aged 3-12. Ability to work under the direction of a member of teaching staff. A calm manner and sense of humour.

Travel Details

Most volunteers are placed in their local area where nursery and primary schools welcome the involvement of volunteers.
