About Opportunity
Samaritans are trained to talk about suicide or dying. They will also help by sharing the callers thoughts and feelings. We do not offer or give advice. However, quite often, they find that having talked something through they know what to do without anyone's advice.

Fewer people die by suicide. People are able to explore their feelings. People are able to acknowledge and respect the feelings of others.

None. Full training will be given.

At the centre in Kilmarnock.

Training and Induction Details
The volunteer will attend a selection day. Then there are three consecutive Sunday days training. Following 6 weeks support on the phones. Following on-going training and support.

Yes. The volunteer will complete a form, submit it to our treasurer who will then forward a cheque to the volunteer. The Samaritans offer 18p per mile.
