About Opportunity

You will, along with other adults, enable girls to enjoy the friendship of other girls, to be valued and to develop confidence. You will provide opportunities which are challenging, fun, thought-provoking and develop a sense of tolerance, justice, kindness and honour. You will be given training and support to do this and also you will be given many opportunities for your own self-development. Guiding is a friendly, supporting organisation where life-long friendships are made.

About Stewartry Guide Association

Girlguiding, as part of a worldwide movement, enables girls and young women to fulfil their potential to take an active and responsible role in society through its distinctive, stimulating and enjoyable programme of activities delivered by trained volunteer leaders. Its vision is to be recognised as the leading organisation for girls and young women and to widen and increase its membership.

Fun-loving people who enjoy working with girls and adults who are willing to follow the Guiding programme and make a commitment to the Guiding standards.

Travel Details

There are opportunities from time to time all over the Stewartry. Presently, in Twynholm, Dalbeattie and New Abbey with 10 - 14 year olds (Guides), in Lochfoot working with 7 - 10 year olds (Brownies), and in Kirkcudbright and Gatehouse, additional help with 5 - 7 year olds (Rainbows).

Application Form, Induction/Training, Informal Chat, Interview, Police Check, References, Trial Period

Training and Induction Details

There is ont he nob training leading to a qulificatio. THis is done through 3 or 4 modules to be comleted over 6 months to a year. There is also safe from harm and first response training to be completed. Every volunteer has a personal mentor as well
