Befrienders can give children the opportunity to broaden their horizons and give them a chance to escape from the difficult and sometimes painful aspects of their lives. In your spare time you can have fun by going bowling, swimming or strolling on a beach, everyday things we all take for granted. you also give a child a chance to have positive childhood memories.

About Befriend a Child
Befriend A Child was established in 1975 to help the suffering and distress of Aberdeen's most disadvantaged children. We offer a one-to-one befriending service for young people aged 4-16 years, helping to promote their welfare, advance their education and improve their social skills. Through spending just a few hours a fortnight with the child, our volunteer brefrienders can help show the young people that adults can be trusted.

We would like our volunteers to enjoy the company of children, have a good sense of humour and like to have fun.
Travel Details
Aberdeen City/Aberdeenshire. Travel is made as easy as possible with bus routes for volunteers being taken into consideration.

Training and Induction Details
Induction training goes over the boundaries and guidelines of the scheme. Support is provided by a telephone call once a month. Office, home and mobile numbers of all staff are provided to all volunteers. We have a monthly newsletter and a drop in sess

Expenses Detail
All public transport costs are reimbursed. Mileage is paid at 30p per mile. A set cost of £20 per outing is provided for volunteers excluding travel costs.
