(Stornoway) Sport Support Worker
When We Need You
From 04/07/2003 onwards
As a volunteer for WIDS you will have the chance to help people with disabilities to take part in varied sporting activities. These include New Age Kurling, Bocca and Croquet. The group meets on Thursday evenings for an hour of activity. Volunteers help set up, monitor the use of the gymnasium and even take part in the activity. Volunteers are encouraged to participate fully in all aspects of the organisations work.

To provide recreational and sporting activities to people with disabilities of all ages. Sporting activities can be for pleasure alone or for those wishing to participate in competions
Skills & Experience
Caring attitude necessary. Don't need previous experience of specific skill. Must have a desire to work with people with disability.

Training and Induction Details
Induction: 10 minute video called "TALK" followed by a brief history and demonstration on all the main acitivities. This would be done outside of sport sessions. Further training may be available locally, trips to events away also available

Travel and subs paid on trips away. Local travel also paid at rate of 15p per mile/public transport
Frequency & Commitment
2 hours per Week
Volunteers must be at least 16 years of age.
