About Opportunity

Volunteers contact people by phone, letter or by visiting them in their own homes or a mutually agreed place. You would provide 'an ear' for people to speak about their experience. Your role could also involve completing forms and writing letters on the person's behalf. You may also provide useful information and signposts to other organisations.

About Victim Support Highland

Provide practical and emotional support to people who have become victims of crime, through trained volunteers who visit the person in their own home, by telephone, by e-mail, or at the Alness outreach service or at the Inverness Office.

Skills & Experience

Good with people, non-judgemental, able to maintain confidentiality, good listener, ability to bring life experiences to the role.

Travel Details

In the office of Victim Support at Tomnahurich Street, in the person's home or in a public place.

Restrictions

Volunteers need to be mature due to the nature of the work.

Training and Induction Details

Volunteers are offered an initial training course which covers their role, what is expected of them, role playing etc. One-to-one supervision is available.
