About Opportunity
This opportunity entails working as a shop assistant, serving in the shop, receiving donations from the public, general tidying and cleaning of the shop, sorting through the bags of donations, getting the items ready for re-sale e.g. ironing, pricing. The volunteer will continually deal with members of the public. Therefore gaining experience in dealing with people and handling money while helping to raise funds for this worthwhile cause.

About Action Aid (Western Isles)
The main aim of Action Aid is to raise money. This money is forwarded to the headquarters in London and they allocate it to a chosen project. Projects may be building a school in Africa or providing fresh water wells in India. This is the only Action Aid shop in Britain. Other money is raised by coffee mornings, car boot sales and by sponsoring a child.
Skills & Experience
A volunteer should have a polite, friendly manner and be used to dealing with the public. Previous experience with cash-handling would be useful. Reliability is important.

Training and Induction Details
The volunteer will work in the shop with an experienced volunteer until they feel confident to be on their own. A senior volunteer will be available to talk to.
