About Opportunity

Kerbcraft is a kerbside road safety education scheme originally develoiped by Strathclyde University and successfully piloted in Drumchapel. North Lanarkshire council made a bid to run the scheme here and were successful. Plans are scheduled to run most mornings and afternoons of the school week for a maximum period of 16 weeks depending on numbers of volunteers, requirement for attendance would be reachable.

About North Lanarkshire Council

Kerbcraft is a Kerbside Road Safety Training scheme aimed at Primary 1 school children. Currently running in the 11 primary schools in the South Wishaw area. Involves the coordinator recruiting and training volunteers who will in turn train the children using the 'Kerbcraft' model.

Skills & Experience

Aability and disposition to work with children. Successful completion of Disclosure Scotland check. Motivation commitment to scheme. Understanding of read safety issuues relevant to children aged 5-7.

Training and Induction Details

Informal chat - Informal one to one or group meeting - structured training on Kerbcraft - practical training at roadside - saupport and guidance at each session, with feedback each time.
