About Opportunity

Home-start volunteers offer support, friendship and practical help to families with at least one child under 5 years of age. We recognise that parents play the key role in their child's life, this is why our volunteers offer family support where it really matters, visiting families in their own homes. Our volunteers are friendly, approachable people who are trusted by parents and respect the needs of each individual family. You would be expected to give 2-3 hours per week to Home-Start.

About Home Start Lorn

Home-start offers support, friendship and practical help to families with at least one child under 5 years of age to prevent further breakdown or crisis. Home-start recognises that parents play the key role in building a happy and secure childhood. This is why our volunteers, all of them parents, offer family support when it really matters, visiting parents and children in their own homes.

All volunteers must be parents.

Travel Details

Family support/visiting takes place in the familiy's own home, but it might alos involve visits to parks, beach, dentist. This varies according to each family's needs.

Application Form, Induction/Training, Informal Chat, Police Check, References

Training and Induction Details

All volunteers are required to attend our preparation course (1 day per week for 6 weeks or 1 evening per week for 8 weeks). It includes topics such as Child Development, Child Protection, Values and Attitudes. Volunteers receive 1 to 1 support, 6-8 weeks
