About Opportunity

This is not a time consuming opportunity, but is a vital service when emergencies arise. Great team spirit, a lot of fun despite seriousness and importance of our service. Volunteers can be asked to help provide hot food and drinks, rest centres, meetings points, information desks, warm, dry clothes, sympathy and friendship. The feeling that someone cares. You gain - pleasure of being a trained, useul team member. new friends. get out and about. sense of satisfaction. life at the sharp end. know you can help when it really matters.

About Women's Royal Voluntary Service

To provide support to people involved in emergency situations. Members help operate rest and education centre, assist feeding, documentation, information points, helplines, clothing and general welfare. Works with local authority, police, fire services, coastguard and utility services. To help the most vulnerable at times of emergency.

Skills & Experience

Common sense, does not panic, likes working with people and being part of a team.

Travel Details

Anywhere in Argyll, where a disaster/emergency has happened. Volunteers required for the Oban, Mull, Lochgilphead, Campbeltown, Helensburgh, Islay and Bute areas in particular, although volunteers from any area are most welcome.

Restrictions

Due to insurance purposes.
