About Opportunity

The counselling assistants will help support the counsellors in their work by a range of activities i.e. some admin assistance/information gathering and collating as well as being availble during counselling shifts (this relates to safety issues, so there will always be two people around). There will be a short training involved to look at boundaries and the importance of confidentiality.

About Mental Health Aberdeen

One to One Counselling provides a confidential counselling service free to the community of Deeside. Counselling may help to get a new perspective on a problem, to think about possible solutions or give the opportunity to talk things through confidentially with someone who is not involved. Counsellors are fully trained volunteers and operatine according to BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy) guidelines.

Skills & Experience

Discretion, confidentiality, willingness to listen to counsellor (debriefing) after sessions and remain confidential - occupy time whilst counsellors are counselling. Potential to do some admin support work.

We would propose that there would be an initial introduction day for all prospective volunteers (TBA).
