About Opportunity

We need volunteers to train as Independent Advocates to support people to express their views and preferences, make choices and access support. Training focuses on Advocacy Skills, Health Care, Legal Issues, Local Services and Mental Health. CAPS provides ongoing volunteer support and the issues are wide-ranging eg: Medication, Housing, Mental Health Act & Employment

About CAPS (The Consultation and Advocacy Promotion Service)

To support people who use mental health services to express their wishes, to make choices and to get the help they want, when they want it.

Skills & Experience

Good awareness of mental health issues; good self awareness; non-judgemental; empathetic with good listening skills; all personal and professional experience valued.

Travel Details

Throughout Midlothian. Travel and other relevant expenses reimbursed.

Restrictions

All applicants will be subject to vetting under Disclosure Scotland (Enhanced Disclosure)
