About Opportunity

Volunteers are asked to register with the schems and provide the names of two references, proof of driving license, MOT documentation and Insurance. Drivers are then contacted by the volunteer telephonist or co-ordinator and asked if they are available for certain journeys. They are under no obligation to accept a journey, but if they do all information and passenger needs are passed on. Journeys vary in time and length, but volunteers can do as many as is suitable to them.

About Lochaber Community Care Forum

To provide accessible transport options for people in Lochaber who have difficulty with public transport. The service is available through volunteer drivers using their own vehicles.

Skills & Experience

Driving skills and a willingness to help others. An understanding of elderly people's needs are helpful.

Travel Details

Where the volunteers are the service is available. Volunteers will generally be asked in their own area, but further afield may sometimes be required.

A full explanation of what is required. Community Transport Association Community Car Scheme Driver Training course is provided. Other courses - first aid and manual handling.
