The support group worker's role would be to support people, particularly those in shock afer an initial diagnosis; advertise, provide publicity materials, build up a library, bring people into the group, use the local media, keep up-to-date with information, build links with the area officer, arrange transport, research people's needs, operate a mailing list, organise groups and speakers.
About Parkinsons Disease Support Group
The aim of a support group would be to provide information, support and medical reference. The support group would be for sufferers and their carers.
Skills & Experience
Good listener, supportive, creative, local knowledge, organised. Able to create a coherent group. Some experience of the effect of Parkinsons.
