About Opportunity
Volunteers will contribute to the running of the Information Resource Centre by supporting visitors to the Centre and responding to telephone enquiries. Volunteers will meet visitors to the Centre, and support them to access information and resources, either in the form of borrowing books from the library or taking away information leaflets, or signposting them to local services. Volunteers will also answer telephone enquiries - although this is not an advice giving service or a phoneline, this may involve supporting the caller over the phone so that they feel comfortable to explain their situation and what information they are looking for. At times when the Centre is quiet, volunteers can become involved in a range of tasks including; updating databases; supporting the Information Development Worker with the service newsletter, Information Afternoons, organising community information events; familiarising with information and resources in the Centre; updating leaflets; and researching new local projects.

About health in mind
health in mind was established in 1981 under the name of Edinburgh Association for Mental Health. In June 2003 we changed our name to health in mind to reflect the intention of the organisation to include the wider issues of wellbeing within its activities. Our principle purpose is to promote the health and well being of people who experience mental health difficulties. We do this by providing an extensive range of services and by working in partnership with others.
Skills & Experience
We are not looking for any particular experience, instead we are more interested in the values held by volunteers. We are looking for people with an interest in mental health, with open minds and a non judgemental approach.
