About Opportunity
The day centre for the elderly is operated by a team of volunteers at the Corrie Centre in Cardenden. Socially isolated or vulnerable older people are escorted to the day centre by bus provided by Fife Council. Volunteers are required to provide general assistance to clients such as serving meals/refreshments, providing a varied programme of activities and escorting clients to the toilet, although clients are all able to manage their own personal hygiene.

About Corrie Day Centre for the Elderly
To provide social contact, friendship, support and activities for older people who are isolated or vunerable and living in the Cardenden and Kinglassie area.
Skills & Experience
Volunteers need to have a genuine interest in people and have a caring diposition. It is not necessary for volunteers to have previous experience of working with the elderly, although this can be a willingness to learn and work well as part of a team.
Travel Details
The Day Centre operates each Monday, Wednesday, Friday 10.00am - 1.45pm A rota system operates and volunteers give as much or as little time as they can. The day centre takes a place at the Corrie Centre, Carden Ave, Cardenden. Most volunteers come from Cardenden, although some also come from Kirkcaldy, who travel by bus or car. Travel expense are paid to volunteers as required..

Training and Induction Details
Familiarising new vols with the routine, duties, personnel, administration, health and safety issues associated with the day to day operation. Ongoing Training includes opportunities to take part in training related to food safety, health and safety.
