About Opportunity

Visiting patients/residents in hospitals, nursing homes etc., with their registered dogs to bring animal companionship, comfort and therapy to people of all ages, who cannot have pets of their own. THERE IS A REGISTRATION FEE FOR VOLUNTEERS TO JOIN THIS SCHEME OF £19.00.

About Pets as Therapy

Screens volunteers and their pets (for temperament, health and suitability) to visit patients/residents in hospitals, nursing homes, day care centres, hospices and residential homes.

Skills & Experience

No particular skills, just the time and ability to assist people. Good listener and own a pet with a friendly temperament.

Travel Details

various nursing homes etc throughout South Lanarkshire.

Training and Induction Details

Initially new volunteers will be accompanied by another experienced volunteer, then new volunteer has an area co-ordinator as back-up.

No expenses are paid. There is a Registration Fee for volunteers to join this scheme of £19.00.
