About Opportunity
Who is it for? Anyone seeking to develop their own management skills, and broaden their knowledge by gaining an overview of how a business functions and the relationship between the different parts. Advisers need enthusiasm, commitment, and a willingness to share their knowledge and skills with a group of young people. Please see our website. What does it involve? Typically two hours contact per week with your Young Enterprise company (usually after school) during term time. Each company has at least 2 advisers. An evening induction to meet Young Enterprise staff and board members, schools liaison teachers and other advisors. You will be given practical information about the advisor role. Geographic preferences can be taken into account in the matching process. What is the outcome?The opportunity to develop your own management competencies by working alongside a team of young people to run a business, and by working alongside Adviser colleagues from different backgrounds. What can I expect to gain from the experience? Some of the skills and competencies you can expect to develop include: Business acumen; Customer focus; Interpersonal skills; Conflict management; Directing others. HOW DO YOU GET INVOLVED? Advisers are placed in a school between their place of work and their home to reduce travel time.
