About Opportunity

BTCV Scotland offers an exciting opportunity to gain a wealth of valuable experience in and training for a career in the environmental sector. Join the TCV Scotland team as one of our Volunteer Officers (VO's) and learn practical conservation and community development. Each office runs a programme of practical conservation projects throughout the year. These involve undertaking a variety of tasks with the aim of increasing biodiversity and improving access to the countryside. Responsibilities will include:- help lead, supervise and train the volunteers; attend site visits and prepare site reports and risk assessment; general office work for the projects; lots of practical work. Free access to a range of training e.g. Health and First Aid at Work certificate, Risk Assessment, Tool Care and Maintenance, Tree and Wild Flower Identification, Leadership Skills, etc.

Skills & Experience

Must be over 21 and preferably able to commit to a minimum 2 month placement. A full driving license (for a least 2 years) is necessary for this role as is the need to be a good team member.

Training and Induction Details

VO's will go through an induction procedure and agree a learning plan. Training courses will be offered in line with their learning plan. Support is ongoing from BCV staff throughout the placement.

Public transport encouraged and full costs reimbursed. Mileage at 10p per mile up to max £5 per journey (currently under review)
