Young Web Journalist
When We Need You
From 05/10/2006 onwards
About Opportunity
The volunteer would be given the opportunity of training in web journalism (Hack Pack) and Podcasting and would be supported by full time staff members. This would be valuable experience to any young person who was thinking about a career in journalism linked to I.T. as the work would involve research, article writing, news gathering, interviewing, photography and uploading material on to the website. They would also have the opportunity to research and become familiar with the Young Scot and Dialogue Youth initiatives. The work time is negotiable and would be carried out within a support team perspective. The Dialogue Youth team would expect the young person to be punctual, honest, have a good level of literacy and numeracy and be competent in the use of I.T. packages, e.g. Microsoft Word and the Internet. The volunteers should be able to work on their own initiative. They would be part of the Dialogue Youth Advisory Group who works with the staff to ensure that Dialogue Youth retains its relevancy to young people. A Disclosure Scotland check would be required.
