About Opportunity

NEXT TRAING INTAKE NOT UNTIL NEXT FEB/MARCH 2013 Volunteers will be trained to a high standard and will be part of a great team who provide support and information to women and girls who have experienced rape/sexual abuse. Volunteers would gain a great deal of experience in this area of work, which would be enhancing for a career in the caring profession. All our volunteers receive on-going training and have the opportunity to identify and participate in other training for personal development. Volunteers provide telephone contact support initially, and can move on to helping provide face to face support, following additional training.

About Lanarkshire Rape Crisis Centre

To promote the welfare and relieve distress of women and girls who have experienced rape and/or any other form of sexual violence or exploitation at any time in their lives, by providing confidential information and support services. Also to raise awareness of the above issues with other agencies and local communities.

Skills & Experience

Non-judgemental, good communication skills, able to act on own initiative and be flexible. Desirable: knowledge of the Rape Crisis Movement in Scotland; good sense of humour; experience of working with women who have experienced sexual violence.

Travel Details

LRCC is based at Brandon House Business Centre, 23-25 Brandon Street, Hamilton, ML3 6DA - next to the bus & train station - with parking (paying) adjacent.

Female volunteers only. Disclosure Check & References will be required.

Application Form, Induction/Training, Informal Chat, Interview, Police Check, References, Trial Period

Training and Induction Details

Training over 12 week period (3.5 hrs per week). Individuals guaranteed to gain appropriate knowledge in relation to work we do. high level of support is available throughout training and probation time.

Expenses Detail

Public transport costs reimbursed and mileage at 35p/mile. Parking fees are paid as appropriate. Childcare costs can also be provided if budget allows.
