About Opportunity
Walking Works is a key part of the national drive to encourage inactive people to take regular short social walks as an enjoyable and sustainable way to improve physical and mental health, leading to long term benefits for the walkers whilst reducing future demands on health/social services. Volunteer walk leaders will receive training (one day with 'paths to health'), equipment and out of pocket expenses, and support from the Project Co-ordinator and advisory group. This scheme will target needier areas and hard to reach groups and individuals. We need volunteers from all backgrounds for these challenging and rewarding posts.
