Volunteer Peer Educator
When We Need You
From 08/11/2010 onwards
About Opportunity
Our volunteer peer educators are aged 16 – 18 and are typically not in education, employment or training. After training (one day a week for 10 weeks) as part of a group, you will be volunteering your time to assist Move On to reach other young people your age in schools and youth clubs. You will be delivering workshops on issues that affect young people, for example, drug and alcohol awareness, peer pressure, healthy relationships, employability etc. The workshops are games based and part of your training will be about designing and developing new games and workshops. As well as the group work and the workshops, Move On Development Workers will work with you on a 1-1 basis, addressing your needs and helping you to achieve your goals of getting into employment, education or training. Through this process we would hope to see you improve in confidence and pick up skills which will help you to succeed in life. We do this through helping you to identify what it is you would like to do in life and assisting you to overcome any barriers to this. Upon completion of training you will receive a £30 High Street voucher for thwe store of your choice. HOW DO YOU GET INVOLVED? You should contact us ideally by phone, in writing or email [using the contact details on the right/select the REGISTER INTEREST button]. If you do not receive a response within 3 working days, please contact the Volunteer Centre. It generally takes around 4-6 weeks after you contact us before you start volunteering.
