About Opportunity
MECC needs volunteers to help provide a culturally sensitive care package for older people who are frail, disabled and suffer from dementia. Volunteers will initially accompany an experienced care worker to visit clients in their homes. You need to speak Urdu, Punjabi or Bengali so that you can commnicate with our clients. We offer training and valuable experience for anyone interested in a career in social work. HOW DO YOU GET INVOLVED? After a telephone call and submitting the application form there will be arrangements to meet fro an interview It generally takes around 4-6 weeks after you contact us to get you started.

About Multi-Cultural Elderly Care Centre
To promote the welfare of the older people in Glasgow, primarily for those from black & ethnic minority communities who are most discriminated against & disadvantaged, by networking with statutory or voluntary organisations in a common effort to improve health, alleviate poverty & enhance the quality of life for the older people within their communities.
Skills & Experience
You need to speak Urdu, Punjabi or Bengali and must have a friendly, caring nature and like dealing with the elderly. Other training will be given.
Travel Details
No 7 & 12 buses top outside MECC on Calder St.
Restrictions
No gender restrictions. Volunteers usually assigned to work with clients of the same gender.
