About Opportunity
The project is a community based facility offering an information and support service to the local community. Volunteers will need to have a kind and caring nature, empathy with older people and the issues which affect them. You would be required to devote a few hours per week to provide information and advice on benefits and entitlements available to older people, including helping to complete benefit application and other forms. Also become familiar with a range of support information on topics to older peoples well being.

About CLASP
Community Capacity building and information and support for clients within SIP areas. Clerical Services (C.V.s) Welfare Benefits information, Nesletters, access to local residents to other agencies (e.g. CHAP). Credit Unions, Local Councillors (holds surgery here). Internet Access, set up community conferences, access to money advice / social work / legal - will advice / advocate.
Skills & Experience
Good written and verbal skills, good interpersonal skills and a caring person who would like the opportunity to provide information and advice to older people which would improve their wellbeing.
Travel Details
Volunteer advisors will operate on an outreach basis at venues convenient for the older person involved. Training will be at project offices or external training could be in Hayocks Primary School. Once training is complete, Volunteers can either be office based or provide outreach surgeries on welfare rights held at various venues in North Ayrshire.

Training and Induction Details
An induction session will be followed by a six to eight week training programme (1/2 day per week) and ongoing training and support sessions thereafter.
