About Opportunity

"HOW DO YOU GET INVOLVED? Ideally email (or ring us) using the REGISTER INTEREST button below/phone number on the right - you'll be able to get started if you successfully complete the procedures AND the next basic training course (scheduled for Jan/Feb '09) but you need to be able to commit to then doing 4 hrs per fortnight for 1 year. Glasgow office is wheelchair accessible and has a disabled toilet, and the Edinburgh office can accommodate people with some physical disability, but is not fully wheelchair accessible: we will endeavour to provide basic training in the appropriate location to suit your needs." You can work from home with a landline telephone or at our Edinburgh office. We will give you training and ongoing support. There is a minimum commitment of one shift per fortnight. There are 4 shifts during the day and one overnight shift. Staff receive few calls overnight so don't have to stay awake. The Helpline receives over 5,500 calls per year. An interest in dementia or personal experience of the illness is preferable, but not essential.
