30 - Active Schools Assistant
When We Need You
From 21/02/2008 onwards
Active Schools Fife aims to introduce more physical activity into children's daily lives through extra curricular clubs, play, travel and dance. We have volunteering opportunities in many roles, including coaches, walk leaders, play leaders and general helpers. There are three main areas of activity. EXTRA CURRICULAR CLUBS Active Schools Fife provides the opportunity for children to participate in regular extra curricular clubs within the school and community. The clubs are designed to increase levels of physical activity and to help children's development of motor skills, co-ordination and sport specific skills. HOLIDAY ACTIVITIES During School Holidays we provide opportunities for primary school children to participate in physical activity programmes within their community. Sessions are designed to generate an interest in various forms of physical activity. ACTIVE LIFESTYLE As well as providing opportunities for structured physical activity, Active Schools Fife plays a major role in education children and parents about the importance of physical activity and how to lead an Active Lifestyle. This includes presentations to parents and the community, classroom sessions with children, health week activities and promoting Active Travel.
About Active Schools (VC)
Active Schools aims to make more children, more active, more often. Active Schools aim to raise awareness and the benefits of regular physical activity and offer a wide range of fun, inclusive provision for primary school children. Activities take place at after- school clubs, during holiday periods, at festivals and tournaments and during taster sessions in curricular time.
Skills & Experience
Enthusiasm and ability to communicate with children. Previous sports experience is an advantage for some roles, but not essential.
Different opportunities and locations across Fife. The children at clubs are aged between 5 years and 11 years old and all primary schools in Fife are involved in the programme. Volunteers would be placed at a location convenient to them and dependent on the current opportunities available.
