When We Need You

About Opportunity
The core of the "Are you cold" project centres around the volunteer hotline operators, who provide a telephone contact point for older people who are cold in their own homes. The volunteers are trained comprehensively to work on their own with confidence. A training package and module is presented for this purpose. People call the hotline with concerns about heating, energy efficiency, benefits information and health related issues/poor housing/heating conditions. Most volunteers offer between 2 - 4 hours of their time each week, and can answer calls from the comfort of their own homes. Volunteer development is ongoing with team meetings every six weeks, regular contact by telephone with development worker and training sessions. HOW DO YOU GET INVOLVED? You should contact us to arrange an informal chat ideally by phone, or by email or in writing using the contact details on the right/select the REGISTER INTEREST! button. If you do not receive a response within 5 working days, please contact the Volunteer Centre. It generally takes around 7-10 days after you contact us to get you started.
