About Opportunity

Assist with the development and care of the museum collection; ensure that the museum website is updated with news, exhibition information etc; assist in the development of exhibitions and assist with the reorganisation and interpretation of displays; assist with implementation and maintenance of internal communications and procedures ensuring communication throughout the custodian volunteers; liaise with the various volunteer groups; support curatorial work; liaise with Museum Development Officers, local schools etc; attend periodic meetings with Museum Forum, Board of Trustees, etc; deal with routine enquiries from visitors and respond to public enquiries; provide high quality customer service that is visitor focused; facilitate group visits and educational events for a wide range of visitors.

About Bennie Museum

Bennie Museum is a small independent local heritage museum run and staffed by volunteers. It comprises 2 houses in a row which were saved from demolition and restored by volunteers. Although the interior is now open plan, many of the original fittings and fixtures have been refurbished and replaced. The roof is pantiled and the whole building is stone. The collection of artefacts numbers close to 7,000 items all with an association to Bathgate from the Victorian and Edwardian, 1st and 2nd World War eras as well as some Roman, 18th Century and Georgian examples covering the everyday aspects of life in the town.
