About Opportunity

Identifying,as far as possible, the injury or nature of illness, To protect casualties and others at the scene from possible danger, To give each casualty early and appropriate treatment, treating the most serious first, To liaise with the Ambulance Service/Police/Fire and Rescue Service, as and when required, To make a record of the care provided ensuring client confidentiality is maintained, To help other team members set up and dismantle first aid posts, To follow agreed Health and Safety instructions.

Skills & Experience

No First Aid experience needed as we can provide all the necessary training; good inerpersonal skills including tact and diplomacy; good communication skills; able to work independently as well as part of a team.

Travel Details

First Aid training and practice happens at the Red Cross Centre, Bayhead. The public events we attend are across the Island and also some larger events on the mainland.

Restrictions

Volunteers aged under 16 are not permitted to administer First Aid for legal reasons and insurance purposes but can assist at events.

Mileage rates for own car use = 40p/mile. For public transport, volunteers keep receipts and claim back expenses. Work wear provided Meals reimbursed

Frequency & Commitment

Every other Tuesday evenings. Must be able to attend regular practice sessions. Events mainly May-sept on saturdays

Volunteers must be at least 15 years of age.
