About Opportunity

The primary role of the VTO is to recruit, train, place, resource and support volunteer tutors who are able to give one-to-one tuition and guidance to over 170 children. We are overseen by a volunteer Board of Directors which meets on the first Wednesday of each month, from 06.30 pm to 08.30pm. The Board approves pairings, makes decisions on strategy, budgets and staffing, and undertakes fundraising activities. The diverse nature of the work undertaken by the Board necessitates a Committee comprising people with a range of experiences and backgrounds. Being on the VTO Board brings the opportunity to gain hands-on management and fundraising experience and meet people with a similar commitment to disadvantaged children. We support our staff, including Board Members, in attending relevant training and share tasks as appropriate. We welcome new Board Members who have enthusiasm and new ideas, and above all a commitment to the objectives of the VTO. **HOW DO I GET INVOLVED?** If you are interested in this opportunity please get in touch with us using the contact details on this page. Alternatively you can register your interest directly using the Register Interest facility.
