About Opportunity

You can work from home with a landline telephone or at our Edinburgh office. We will give you training and ongoing support. There is a minimum commitment of one shift per fortnight. There are 4 shifts during the day and 1 overnight shift. Staff receive few calls overnight and don't have to stay awake. The Helpline receives over 5,500 calls each year. An interest in dementia or personal/professional experience of the illness is preferable, but not essential.

To care for and campaign on behalf of people with dementia and their carers. To raise awareness of dementia within the public domain.

Skills & Experience

Life experience, a mature outlook, preferably personal or professional experience of dementia, or an active interest in the subject, ability and willingness to undertake lone working.

Travel Details

Work from home. Training happens mostly in Edinburgh or Glasgow, and we pay for meals, travel and accomodation.

Restrictions

Most of our callers are older people, and our volunteers need to have a mature outlook on life.
