About Opportunity

Volunteers work alongside paid staff to deliver Drop-In youth sessions at FUSE (The East End Youth Cafe). FUSE is an exciting venue with an IT suite linked to John Wheatley College, a Drop In Cafe, Gig space and meeting rooms and has over 600 young members to date. It offers young people the opportunity to socialise, interact and have access to informal learning opportunities in a safe, relaxed and friendly environment. As a Drop-In we provide an unstructured environment rather than using planned activities. We are always looking for mature volunteers with experience of youth work, common sense, maturity, patience, tolerance and a sense of humour. Our Drop-In Sessions run on Sun-Fri from 3-5pm for P5-P7 pupils and on Sun-Fri from 5-8pm for 12-18 year olds. HOW DO YOU GET INVOLVED? You can contact us ideally by phone, in writing or email using the contact details on the right/select the REGISTER INTEREST! button. If you do not receive a response within 2 working days, please contact the Volunteer Centre. You will then be sent an application form. After submitting the application form we will make arrangements to meet for an informal chat. It generally takes around 4-6 weeks after you contact us to get you started. At first volunteers start just for a trial period - to give both the volunteer and FUSE a chance to see if the role is working out.
