About Opportunity

Volunteer Speakers are trained to talk about the work of CHAS to any group who requests a speaker. This can range from primary schools through to community groups and even businesses. Talks can last anything from 5 minutes to 45 minutes. We also have DVDs which we can show as appropriate. Speakers will also be asked to collect cheques and often say a few words of thanks and have their photo taken. Full training is given.

About CHAS (Childrens Hospice Association Scotland)

The Childrens Hospice Assoication Scotland (CHAS) is a Scottish charity established to provide hospice services in Scotland for children with life - shortening conditions. A childrens hospice offers professional care, practical help and emotional support to the whole family usually from the day they are referred until the death of their child and beyond. Rachel House, Scotlands first children's hospice, opened in Kinross in July 1996. Robin House in Balloch opened in 2005. Both hospices are purpose built and each provides ongoing support for up to 200 families across Scotland each year.

Skills & Experience

Interest in CHAS is essential. Full training will be given

Travel Details

Work is carried out as requested by local groups and businesses and is not at a regular time. Talks may be in weekends/evenings. At present there is not a huge demand for talks in the area but we hope that if we recruit volunteers locally we can raise the profile of CHAS and thereby create more opportunities in the future. Volunteers would need to provide own transport to venues.
