About Opportunity

We are offering experiences in 1. Deep bed cultivation of fruit and vegetables 2. Work in the polytunner growing tomatoes etc 3. Maintaining and developing the wildlife are, feeding birds etc 4. Maintaining and developing the wildlife garden and pond. 5. Maintaining and making compost, leaf mould, wormery, liquid fertilizer and recycling wood etc. 6. Working in the soft fruit cage 7. Maintaining and planting the herb bed and rockery 8. Developing and maintaining the 'potager' garden (veg and flower mix) 9. Using the resource centre and kitchen to read up on all above areas and more

About Kintyre Environmental Group

We are an organic, community garden and have a wildlife area. The aim is to provide healthy food, activities for volunteers, and a peaceful, educational environment for visitors to the garden / wildlife area.

Skills & Experience

The volunteer needs to adapt to a stress reduced pace of life and have a willingness to listen and share ideas/experiences to others regarding gardening, wildlife support, tea making etc

Travel Details

The Community Organic Garden is situated behind Auchinlee Eventide Home on High Askomil Road, opposite the bus stop. The entrance is to the left wall, up a sloping drive.

We have a basic induction leaflet giving them basic garden information and contact details.
