About Opportunity
: To uphold the Fundamental Principles of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement and to volunteer within the Society’s equal opportunities policy. : To deliver first aid education and support (including assessment where necessary) to Red Cross personnel and to external audiences as agreed by the Services Manager (or equivalent). This may include specific training courses of varying length, individual support, signposting to other resources such as online learning, reference manuals and CD ROMs. : To deliver first aid education and support (including assessment where necessary) in accordance with current Red Cross quality standards and protocols, including the use of approved training resources. : To use a range of training and assessment resources to enhance the training experience, within a safe environment, with due consideration to infection control procedures and in accordance with safe moving and handling practices. : Where necessary, to assess the competence of individual students in accordance with current Red Cross guidelines and to understand the process of appeal where students are in disagreement with a ‘not yet competent’ decision. : To develop an understanding of the specific needs of students such as cultural awareness, learning styles/abilities and health issues, especially when asking students to participate in practical activities.

Skills & Experience
: To hold, or be willing to achieve, a current Standard First Aid certificate - prior experience and learning can also be considered. : To hold, or be willing to achieve, a current trainer/assessor qualification; Red Cross : Trainer/Assessor Award.

Restrictions
A minimum age of 18 and maximum age of 70 (up to 75 with authorisation from the Branch Medical Officer) in accordance with British Red Cross insurance policy. Also a regular First Aid Group meetings that you need to attend to keep your skills current.
Training and Induction Details
Volunteers will undertake initial and ongoing training and assessment to enable the service to be provided in accordance with appropriate service standards.
