About Opportunity
This is a great opportunity for someone who would like to go into the field of working with people with disabilities. You will work with young disabled and people with learning disabilities in social clubs. Monday night is our Innovate Club for people aged 16 to 25. You will accompany the driver to pick up the young people from their homes and help them onto the bus, which has wheelchair access). Then onto the youth club or to a planned excursion. At the youth club you will take part in activities, chat and generally oversee all activities, giving your own input and ideas. At the end of the evening you will again help with boarding the bus, taking the young people home and leaving them safe. HOW DO YOU GET INVOLVED? You should contact us ideally by phone using the contact details or register your interest. We will then arrange a time for you to come for an informal chat during which we will give you a welcome pack filled with information about our organisation. If you do not receive a response within 2 working days, please contact the Volunteer Centre. It generally takes around 1 week after you contact us to get you started.

About The Disability Community
The Disability Community has been championing the rights of, and supporting, people with disabilities of all ages for over twenty years. We are based in Possilpark and our purpose built centre is open Monday to Friday. We provide activities and services for people with a disability in North Glasgow. We operate adult activities such as lunch clubs, social clubs and an adult learning programme and we run a dedicated youth support service. We also have a community café serving hot and cold food and a meals delivery service.
Skills & Experience
Ability to work with 12+ yr old youths with learning disabilities and disabled people. Join in with activities, music, pool, games and work outside the centre.

Training and Induction Details
Volunteers would receive an induction meeting with the Youth Development Worker and would carry out a period of induction training shadowing trained workers.
