About Opportunity
Ward Shopping Volunteers will provide an appropriate shopping service, they should have an understanding of, and commitment to, the palliative care approach - non-judgemental, accepting, patient, and empathetic, with the ability to relate well to staff, patients and other volunteers. Volunteers will have the ability to function in the presence of grief and distress and a sensitive, calm approach. Have good communication and cash handling skills. You would need to be responsive to patients' needs'passing any relevant information on to staff. Check on arrival the ward update and check with nursing staff for any special requests of instructions, we would be grateful if you would please inform in advance if unable to attend as planned, so an alternative service can be arranged for that morning. Report any issues or problems to the relevant person in charge.

Skills & Experience
Ward Shopping Volunteers will require: o Understanding of, and commitment to, the palliative care approach – non-judgmental, accepting, patient, and empathetic, with the ability to relate well to staff, patients and other volunteers. o The ability to function in the presence of grief and distress with a sensitive, calm approach. o Good communication and cash handling skills. o To be responsive to patients’ needs, passing any relevant information on to staff. o To attend Volunteer Induction, Fundamental Palliative Care, Infection Control, Communication, and any other relevant training courses and team meetings.

Ayrshire Hospice, Racecourse Road, Ayr Ward, No 35 Racecourse Road and access to local shops.

Training and Induction Details
Volunteers to attend Volunteer Induction, Fundamental Pallative Care, Infection Control, Communication, and any other relevant courses and team meetings.
