About Opportunity

The Master Composter project is funded my the Scottish Government through the Waste and Resources Action Programme (WRAP) who distribute compost bins and accesories to households in Scotland. Volunteers will work alongside the master composter project officer to promote home composting by giving advice and promoting WRAP's range of composting products which are offered to householders at reduced rates.

About Ross-shire Waste Action Network

ROWAN works with communities in Ross-shire on waste awareness and waste prevention activities. We encourage and support householders and businesses to reduce the amount of waste that they create and send to landfill. We are a registered charity and company limited by guarantee.

Skills & Experience

An understanding of composting and recycling would be useful. Good people and organisation skills are important. A ROWAN volunteer must enjoy talking and meeting new people.

Travel Details

A variety of events and venues across Ross-shire or local to the volunteer.

Restrictions

Target groups are householders (adults) though some school work will take place it is not targeted at children.

Training and Induction Details

The Master Composter Project Officer will organise training and provide support throughout the opportunity. Training will be given in all areas including; composting and household waste, how the project works and how to use the products.

Travel expenses to and from events and other expenses incurred in relation to promoting the project e.g phone calls and postage will be paid.

Frequency & Commitment

3 - 5 hours per month minimum commitment required. ROWAN is busier during the summer months. Volunteers are nedded at weekends and during evenings when events need to be covered.
