About Opportunity
The Glentress Trailfairies are a group of volunteers who help out with both maintenance work on the existing mountain bike trails and the hand building of new sections of trail at Glentress Forest, one of the most popular mountain bike trail centres in the UK. Maintenance work includes resurfacing worn sections of trail, drainage work and adding new features – all helping to keep the trails riding sweet! New sections are crafted by hand and often include sections of elevated timber trail. The work we do is really valued by riders and it’s a great opportunity to put something back into the trails, have a say in what gets built and learn more about the techniques and thinking involved. No experience is needed. It can be quite strenuous work, though this ain’t no chaingang – volunteers are encouraged to work as easy or hard as they like. Cakes provided!
