About Opportunity

Advisers: - Interview clients - Use the Electronic Information System and other sources to give information to clients - Explain the choices the client faces, and the possible consequences - If needed, offer practical help to clients by writing letters, making phone calls, and helping fill in forms - Perform calculations e.g. for benefits - Refer clients to other agencies - Keep confidential records - Identify social policy issues

Citizens Advice & Rights Fife aims to talkle inequality, discrimination and disadvantage in Fife through the provision of high quality information, advice adn representatation services that are: independant, free, confidential, non-judgemental, CARF aims to influence, inform and promote change in local and national policy to enhance rthe social welfare of people in Fife

Skills & Experience

Many volunteers are required for this opportunity. Advisers should be good listeners, able to work in a team, able to read and write English and do basic arithmetic, be open-minded and non-judgemental, enjoy helping people, commit to 6 hours/week.

Training and Induction Details

All advisers follow CAB competences training. Some self-study units, group sessions and shadowing of advisers make up the training. Volunteers have access to training courses run by CA Scotland in a number of areas including IT skills.

We pay public transport, mileage at 40p per mile and volunteers are reimbursed every month
