About Opportunity
Animal Therapy Volunteer will require: To be assessed and registered with an appropriate organisation such as Therapets or Pets As Therapy, and complying with that organisation’s rules, health precautions and annual checks. The ability to help within the boundaries of the role, maintaining control of their animal at all times. To be responsive to patients’ needs as they arise, and pass information on to relevant staff. Understanding of, and commitment to, the palliative care approach – non-judgmental, accepting, patient, and empathetic, with the ability to relate well to staff, patients and other volunteers. The ability to function in the presence of grief and distress with a sensitive, calm approach. To attend Volunteer Induction, Fundamental Palliative Care, Infection Control, Communication, and any other relevant training courses and team meetings.
