About Opportunity

To create and sustain a safe environment for services users, which have suffered abuse while in care, to discuss practical issues that are affecting their everyday lives. Areas that may be covered could relate to housing, benefits, criminal injury compensation claims, access records, support services, local learning or employment, family support and childcare issues. Advocacy requires active listening skills so as to meet the needs of the individual.

To lead the battle against the hurt caused by childhood sexual abuse in any instance and childhood abuse while in care by providing hope and life enhancing support services to survivors and their familities. And lead a societal campaign to end such pain. Established in 1994 we have offered support in the form of interventions such as Councelling, Support Work, Group Work, Befriending and Advocacy.

Skills & Experience

Experience or qualification in areas such as Social or Health Care, Counselling Skills, Phychology, Mental Health Advice and Guidance or Advocacy.

Restrictions

Police Check, No perpetrators of abuse.

Application Form, Induction/Training, Informal Chat, Police Check, References

Training and Induction Details

Full training and induction before first service user contact. Supervision to discuss service users progression with local qualified Development Worker. Ongoing contact and line management from Volunteer Development Manager.
