About Opportunity
Interested in energy efficiency matters and enjoy talking to people? Our work brings real improvements to communities by offering friendship, support and free practical assistance around the home to elderly, disabled, infirm and housebound people. You will be part of a valued team who provide a variety of services to older and disabled people in the East Kilbride area. Reducing fuel poverty and cold winter deaths is the main factor behind this newer service to our clients. Volunteers will go out to people's houses and complete an energy efficiency survey and be able to pass on advice and information relating to various energy efficiency matters i.e. changing timers, show how to use heating controls more effectively, advising on grants available for energy efficiency improvements, ‘no-cost’ energy advice, dampness and condensation advice, or simply changing a lightbulb. You may also be in contact with fuel suppliers.
