About Opportunity

Drum is a beautiful house with a friendly welcome for all visitors. The High Wall wisks visitors back to medieval times, while Drum Tower is the oldest intact building in the Trust's care and offers amazing views. We are looking for a friendly volunteer to serve in the Tearoom which is part self service and part table servce. You will work to food hygiene regulations, promote the Trust to customers and visitors and assist with stock control. Benefits of this role include: meet like-minded people, gain skills, knowledge and experience, learn about Scotland's history and a Volunteer card entitling the holder to free entry to NTS properties, and a 20% discount in NTS shops.

The Trust has over 100 properties attracting over 2 million visitors annualy. More than 225,000 members support it through a subscription which forms a large part of its annual income.

Skills & Experience

Previous experience in catering setting would be an advantage. Friendly, outgoing personality with a flexible approach to the task. Ability to work on own initiative with minimum supervision. Confidence in handling money and stock display.

Training and Induction Details

Tearoom volunteers will work closely with the Property Manager and Custodians and will be given an induction and the necessary training for the role. Further training will be given from time to time.
