About Opportunity
To assist in planning and facilitating issue-based group work activities which support LGBT young people to improve confidence and self esteem, and increase skills and knowledge. To provide support and referral options to LGBT young people who need additional support or specialised services. To monitor and record all work with young people. To carry out such other duties as deemed appropriate and known to be within the competence of the volunteer, and agreed by the team leader.

Restrictions
Our service users are 13-25 years of age, and it would be inappropriate for our youth work assistants to be the same age, or under, as our service users. We actively encourage volunteers 55+ as we are developing a model of intergenerational learning.

Training and Induction Details
Induction session consists of diversity & lgbt issues training and specialised lgbt youth work training. There will also be on-going training and development opportunities, and regular 6-8 week support and supervision sessions.

All travel expenses will be reimbursed monthly though this can be negotiated weekly or in advance on an individual basis.

Frequency & Commitment
Group meets on Tuesdays 5.30 - 8pm. Volunteers do not have to attend every week but are required to make a regular commitment . This will ensure consistency in our service.
