About Opportunity
The volunteer team of Community Gardeners meet weekly to plan, create and develop our community gardens around Toryglen. We have 5 gardens that are open to the public at all times in different places around Toryglen, and we also help local schools to develop their gardens. We also have a number of small community orchards and composting areas. Volunteers work together and cooperatively to learn new skills – from joinery and soft landscaping to horticulture, orchard care and composting. No previous experience is necessary to take part but those with skills and experience are always welcomed. The group currently comprises men and women from a range of different cultures and backgrounds and with various levels of ability. We also have a separate women’s group that meets on a different day. Please note that this opportunity is only available to those resident in the Southeast area of the city. HOW DO YOU GET INVOLVED? You should contact us an informal chat ideally by email, writing to us, drop in and see us or phone using details . If you are interested in this opportunity please get in touch with us using the contact details on this page. Alternatively you can register your interest directly using the register Interest facility. If you do not receive a response within 3 working days, please contact the Volunteer Centre. It generally takes around 2-6 days after you contact us to get you started.
