30 - Walk Leader
When We Need You
From 09/07/2009 onwards
About Opportunity
Walk leaders work in pairs to lead short walks, up to two and a half miles. The led walks provide an opportunity for social contact which can motivate people to walk regularly. They also overcome the fear barrier of walking alone. Walk leaders have an opportunity to meet new people and walk with people. They also have an opportunity to do this outside and keep active themselves. We provide both walk leader training and a basic first aid course. Current leaders have gained a sense of achievement from encouraging and supporting others. You will be part of a national network of 700 walk leaders in Scotland.
